Most recently, and an exciting achievement for South Africa’s oldest wine producing estate, Groot Constantia made the list of Top 10 South African Wine Producers as chosen by the SA Wine Index. Closely preceding this, Groot Constantia’s 2013 Shiraz achieved a Gold medal and placed in the Top 10 at the 2015 Syrah-du-Monde awards, as well as being selected amongst the top 12 out of 202 entrants at the Shiraz SA Wine Challenge. Groot Constantia’s 2012 Grand Constance wine achieved a Grand Gold award at the 2015 Monde Selection International Wine Contest in May; and Groot Constantia’s 2013 Chardonnay was judged as the Best in the World at the 22nd annual Chardonnay du Monde competition held in March.Groot Constantia’s wines continue to rake in the awards with the estate having won a total of 89 top accolades since 2003. These latest awards come close on the back of the 2015 Taj Awards where Groot Constantia walked away with several coveted trophies – including being selected as the “Most Iconic Producer” - indicating that this year is a bumper one for Groot Constantia. In fact the estate has won a total of 18 gold awards over the last 12 months alone.Celebrating these awards and 330 yearsGroot Constantia is celebrating its 330th year of continuous wine production this year – with the official birthday date being 13 July.
