A Diverse Wine Experience
Situated in the heart of the beautiful Franschhoek village, The Franschhoek Cellar is a historic landmark (circa 1920) that boasts several tasting rooms for savouring wines.
THE TASTING ROOMS
The Brampton Wine Studio offers the fruit-driven Brampton wine range known for their strong, colourful personality by winemaker Richard Duckitt, now Red Wine Maker at Boschendal.
For a more sophisticated tasting experience, The Bernard Premium Lounge offers a premium selection of award-winning wines from The Bernard Series by winemaker Niël Groenewald. These wines pay tribute to Bernard Podlashuk, the pioneer winemaker who established the Bellingham homestead outside Franschhoek in 1943. Pre-bookings are essential.
Another option is The Bellingham Cellar Tasting Room. Bellingham, originally founded along the slopes of the Groot Drakenstein Mountains in 1693, offers a wide selection of wines consisting of the Tree series, the Insignia series, and the Ancient Earth range. The Bellingham wines are also made by Niël Groenewald and he has handcrafted these wines from rich soils, unique vineyards, and specialized barrel and blend selections that all combine to create distinctive and noble characters.
Guests can also choose to experience their wines in The Franschhoek Cellar Tasting Room. The newly appointed winemaker for Franschhoek Cellar, JD Rossouw, has worked at Larkmead Vineyards in Napa, USA before returning to South Africa to become assistant winemaker at Simonsig in Stellenbosch, and Boland Kelder in Paarl, where after two years he was made head winemaker.
