As one of only five finalists in this category, this award recognized the top cellar-door deli in the Winelands; one that tempts wine tourists with an authentic range of traditional and contemporary local produce either grown on the farm or sourced locally from artisanal producers.
Visitors to the Lanzerac Deli are treated to the only best in fresh, artisanal produce. Breads, cakes and pastries are baked daily, tempting guests each day with the aroma of freshly baked produce and aromatic coffee. Delicious homemade jams, chutneys and sauces are on sale affording guests the opportunity to purchase their Lanzerac favourites. Guests can choose from a selection of delectable deli items, which includes creating your own sandwich or a delicious platter. Picnic baskets are also available to be enjoyed on the lush picnic lawns overlooking the vineyards. With the Lanzerac Tasting Room adjacent to the Deli visitors can sip, sample and savour Lanzerac’s award-winning wines – the perfect excuse to stock up on wines for your collection.

Conceptualized in 2012, the competition is the brainchild of Wine Tourism South Africa publisher, Monika Elias, whereby she (via the publication) invited foodies, wine lovers, outdoor adventurers and wine farm visitors to show their love and appreciation for South Africa’s Winelands, during the months of September to November, by voting for their favourite nominees in South Africa’s first ever, consumer-driven, interactive wine tourism awards.
