Renowned international Master of Wine, Tim Atkin will be releasing the fourth edition of his South Africa Special Report in London in September.

Following two visits to the Cape in 2016, and having tasted no less than 1400 South African wines this year, Atkins once again scored the wines of Bouchard Finlayson amongst the top of the crop, ranging from the 2016 BF Sauvignon Blanc Reserve at 90 points, to 91 points for 2015 BF Kaaimansgat Chardonnay and 92 points for 2014 BF Hannibal.

Three current vintages were scored at 93 points - the 2014 BF Missionvale Chardonnay, 2013 BF Tête de Cuvée Pinot Noir and the 2013 BF Galpin Peak Pinot Noir, once again endorsing the Hemel-en-Aarde winery as one of South Africa’s top producers of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Earlier this year, the 2013 BF Galpin Peak Pinot Noir also won a Gold medal in the prestigious 2016 Global Pinot Noir Masters awards and was included in the coveted UK ‘Wine Merchant Top 100’.

Atkins says that the South African wine scene has never been more exciting or more diverse. ‘Both at home and overseas, there is a growing awareness of the winemaking and viticultural revolution that is unfolding in the Cape. Consumers worldwide are becoming increasingly passionate about South African wines’, he concluded.
