Activities at Nederburg will start at 09:00 with a country-style bubbly breakfast at The Red Table, situated in the historic Nederburg manor house. It costs R125 a head, and is available to those who book and pre-pay.
Other activities will also be on offer. Visitors will get to sample two 2017 vintage Nederburg wines in the making, participate in a barrel rolling race and stomp newly harvested grapes.
Live music by local artists including Loren, known as Paarl’s ‘nightingale’; Amy Jones, a previous Idols contestant whose new single Sunrise is currently a hit on local radio; and the versatile Ramaine Barreira Lloyd, will keep visitors entertained in front of the manor house, where a variety of food stalls will offer tasty country-style fare in the welcoming gardens to enjoy with Nederburg wines.
The Red Table will also be serving dishes from its à la carte menu, between 11:00 and 16:00. Scrumptious picnic baskets, at R185 per head, will also be offered. Booking and pre-payment is essential.
Children are catered for in the form of a jumping castle, Slush Puppies and candy floss.
As an added extra, visitors can enjoy a free cellar tour and 15-minute wine blending tutorial with Nederburg’s red winemaker, Samuel Viljoen, from 11:00 to 12:30.
Nederburg wines by the glass or bottle will be on sale on the manor house lawn. Purchase a bottle of Nederburg The Winemasters Chenin Blanc 2016, not usually available in South Africa, for R60, or taste this special wine at R25 per head (while stock lasts).
