Major figures in the global wine industry will gather next month to debate the future potential of emerging markets at a seminar entitled New and Emerging markets: deliverance or distraction?, sponsored by Amorim.
The event will take place at London International Wine Fair on Wednesday May 13, at 15h00, in South Gallery Rooms 27/28 at Excel, and is open to trade visitors who register for the event at www.wineintelligence.com.

It is with great pleasure that we can announce that Troy Christensen, President of Constellation Europe, will deliver the keynote address at the seminar.

The challenges and opportunities presented by emerging markets will then be debated by a diverse group of leading industry figures, moderated by Richard Halstead, COO of Wine Intelligence.

Su Birch, CEO of Wines of South Africa, will offer the perspective both as a country promotion body charged with blazing a trail on behalf of her producers in far-flung export markets, and also as someone whose domestic market, and neighbouring African countries, could be regarded as "emerging".

Arend Heijbroek, Senior Wine Analyst at Rabobank, brings a long and distinguished global strategic perspective to the debate, and will be focusing on the issues facing major production countries as they grapple with the task of penetrating these new markets.

Christophe Fouquet, Global Sales Director for Amorim, the world's largest producer of cork stoppers, will offer the unique perspective of a supplier to the entire industry, whose future prosperity is indelibly linked to the growth of the wine category in these new markets.

Finally, Felicity Carter, Editor of Meininger's Wine Business International, joins the panel to offer the media's viewpoint. Meininger's has taken the lead among all wine industry titles in focusing its coverage on new and emerging markets, and has published influential articles about Brazil, China, Russia, India, among others, in the past 12 months.

While there will be opportunities to ask questions from the floor during the debate, the panel would welcome any questions sent in advance. Please send your questions to richard@wineintelligence.com by Monday, May 11.
