Stellenbosch in line for top international award

The Stellenbosch American Express® Wine route has reinforced their claim as South Africa's premier wine tourism destination by being nominated in the prestigious 'Wine Enthusiast' Magazine's Wine Star Awards.
Stellenbosch is on the short list with other world renowned wine regions: Champagne (France), Rhône Valley (France), Russian River Valley (California) and Valpolicella (Italy).

Wine Enthusiast is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Wine Star Awards. The awards recognize excellence on all levels in the industry, from producing premium wines and spirits to marketing and distributing them.

All award recipients will be honoured at the annual Wine Star Awards gala dinner on Monday, January 25, 2010 at the New York Public Library in New York City. "We are extremely proud of Stellenbosch's nomination. This is a realisation of our goal to not only market Stellenbosch as the jewel in South Africa's wine tourism crown at home, but to spread the word all over the globe," says Annareth Bolton, chief executive of the Stellenbosch American Express® Wine route.
