| Sip and Sup: Meet the Winemaker at Longridge |

| Longridge Wine Estate and Restaurant have launched a monthly "Meet the Winemaker" event, which will give food and wine lovers the opportunity to enjoy a fabulous tasting menu paired with wines from the extensive Longridge wine portfolio. Starting in May, the Meet the Winemaker events will take place on the last Friday of each month.

The first event will be hosted by Longridge winemaker Jasper Raats and chef Bruce von Pressentin on Friday, 25 May, from 18h00. According to Raats, this is the perfect chance to experience the elegantly crafted Longridge wines combined with the gourmet offerings of the restaurant. “By presenting a tasting menu, guests can enjoy a wider representation of the dishes on the menu, which will be offset by a wine of my choice. Each combination will bring a whole new dimension to the flavour profile and this might even expose guests to new varietals and taste sensations. This is also a chance to chat to our winemaking team and discover the secrets from our cellars and our approach to making wine. As the restaurant is famed for the seasonality of our menu and using only the freshest local produce, the tasting menu and price will change on a monthly basis,” explains Raats.
For the first event, guests will be welcomed with a glass of 2010 HPG Rosé served with cured Franschhoek trout dressed with crème fraîche, avocado salsa with chilli, lemon and tomato and sweet potato disks with venison carpaccio, ginger, soy and lemongrass dressing, with beetroot chutney. The first course features poached egg served in a Pinotage sauce with crispy smoked pork belly, fresh parsley and warm bread paired with the 2007 Longridge Pinotage. For the second course, the 2010 Longridge Chenin Blanc teams up with whole-baked, salt encrusted Cape salmon, served with salsa verde, marinated fennel and dauphinoise gratin. The luscious 2007 Cabernet Franc is perfectly paired with a delectable chocolate fondant before a cheese board is served.
