Mentored Tasting with Ritrovo and Avondale
05 June 2012  by Avondale
Ritrovo, Pretoria's Italian fine dining restaurant, will be hosting an exclusive Mentored Tasting of Avondale's range of nature-friendly wines in its video conferencing room on the 6th of June 2012 and 11th of July 2012 respectively.
Fortunato Mazzone, Chef Patron of Ritrovo, has invited a select number of guests to his restaurant to experience Avondale’s extraordinary wines, which are produced according to the BioLOGIC® methodology. Avondale Proprietor Johnathan Grieve will discuss each wine with the guests from a remote location, via satellite link-up in Ritrovo’s video its state-of-the-art conferencing room. “To our knowledge, this would be the first time a tasting of this nature has been attempted,” says Mazzone.

Ritrovo, well-known for its authentic Italian cuisine, also boasts the most sophisticated audio-visual system of any private room in South Africa, which includes a Dolby 7.2 equipped sound system by Yamaha and Boston Acoustics, a top-of-the-range HD 1080p Projector and an ultra high speed wireless LAN. “Our system offers crystal clear audio and visual quality, allowing for an interactive and personal tasting experience conducted in real time- despite both parties being at different sides of the country!” explains Mazzone.

Grieve says that the Mentored Tasting is one of the ways Avondale is looking at reducing its carbon footprint. “Avondale prides itself on its innovative, forward-thinking and environmentally-conscious approach, and this is one of the ways that we will be approaching tastings in areas that are further afield in future. The Mentored Tasting is made possible through Ritrovo’s state-of-the-art facilities, which allows for seamless interaction between both parties,” says Grieve.
