Certificate in Wine Appreciation
06 July 2012  by The Wine Appreciators
This course is designed for anyone who would like to acquire an in-depth knowledge on different wine styles and cultivars, the most common wine faults that we struggle to identify, famous blends from around the world, lesser known varieties and common arguments and uncertainties of winemaking and drinking such as differences between screw cap and cork, tropical and green Sauvignon blanc, when does a Chardonnay have too much wood etc.
We also look at the production of white, red, sparkling wine and port in detail. We guarantee each client more advanced wine tasting skills and we help you to better describe the wine in your glass.

The course will consist of 10 contact sessions of three hours each over a period of three months. Each session will be a combination of theoretical training followed by an in-depth wine tasting. Electronic copies of the course material in English will be supplied prior to every training session. Attendants completing the course and passing the assessment will receive a Certificate in Wine Appreciation.

This certificate will serve as an enrolment qualification for the Stellenbosch University Wine Evaluation Certificate. If you would like to also subscribe for both this 10 week Certificate in Wine Appreciation and the Stellenbosch University Certificate in Wine Evaluation, you will receive a significant discount.

The date and venue: The course will be presented at the Department of Viticulture and Oenology at Stellenbosch University in the JH Neethling building in Victoria Street. The next course is held once a week during the months of August to October 2012 (10 contact sessions in total). See dates in PDF.

The cost per person is R2800 pp if you only subscribe for this 10 week Certificate in Wine Appreciation. If you would also like to enrol for the US Certificate in Wine Evaluation it will amount to a total of R3450.
