| Wines to enjoy while watching the Olympics |
| 14 August 2012 by Elizabeth Bridges |

| The 2012 Olympics are upon us and the whole world is watching to see who
will come out on top in the race for the most medals. The Olympic
Games are the one event that even non-sport fans will gather to watch in
order to cheer for their countrymen as they try to fulfill a lifelong
goal to win Olympic gold.

While watching these games, many will choose to enjoy a fine wine to help them relax and enjoy the games. Below are some wines that will fit in perfectly during these games.
Cabernet Sauvignon by Excelsior
This wine really delivers with flavors of black cherry, blackcurrant, and plum as well as subtle hints of both spice and dark chocolate. The term excelsior means "ever upward" in Latin and the brand name seems fitting for the Olympics as the athletes are always trying to improve their performance and move up the leaderboard to snatch the gold.
Spier Merlot
We could definitely cue a javelin reference for this wine but the inviting nose of plum and raspberry flavors will make it a "gold medal" favorite among wine fans. The palate of this wine is smooth and has subtle flavors of oak and berry flavors that love to linger. This type of wine is good for a meal, a gathering, or even as a drink at the casino during poker games.
Infinity Methode Cap Classique by Kumkani
This wine has a creamy and smooth entrance that will help set the mood for a long football match between rival nations. The mix of flavors that include nuts, warm toast, and spicy fruity candy gives it a persistent finish that most wine lovers should enjoy. It goes well either with a meal or as a standalone beverage.
The Olympic games are not like the Super Bowl or the World Series of Poker where one or two countries are usually the predominate participate. It is the one place where the entire world truly comes together in a spirit of competition and peace. A good wine like those listed above can only help to enhance spectator enjoyment as they cheer for their country to bring home the gold.
