Ruffled feathers at Eagles' Nest Wines
14 September 2012  by Eagles Nest
Spring may be all over us, but this year has seen a typical stormy Cape winter grace the peninsula with all its might. Heavy rainfall and snow on the high ground (Including Johannesburg) has been the order of the day.
In terms of rainfall, at Eagles’ Nest, we are 5 months ahead of last year's rainfall pattern. As at 31 August, 878 mm has been recorded to date, versus 506 mm recorded over the same period last year. Due to last year being regarded as a relatively dry season, this year has truly seen a good recovery to normal levels of rainfall. We have also exceeded our 10 year rainfall average which stands at 775 mm.

In the vineyard, while the vines slumber in the cold and wet weather, our viticultural team has been actively busy implementing the annual haircut. Kobus and his team have virtually completed the pruning schedule for the year, before readying themselves for the budding and pollination season.

New wine release: The ‘Pink’ Little Eagle

It's true that sibling rivalry in an Eagles' Nest can be a fiery relationship at the best of times, but being the only hatchling can also be a lonely affair. The team has therefore decided to launch with great excitement the Little Eagle Rose this spring as part of the Little Eagle range, joining the Little Eagle Red which has ruled the roost for a number of years. Rumour has it that a Little Eagle White may also join the family soon, in order to avoid the range being labelled a Pigeon pair.
