Popularly priced wine brand Two Oceans appears to be pleasing both the people and the critics.

As global volumes continue to swell, news comes of more international accolades, including a score of 90 earned in the US, Best Buy recommendations and medals won in Europe.

In the 2012 World Value Wine Challenge, billed as the most comprehensive show in the US for wines retailing at $20 and under, the 2012 Two Oceans Sauvignon Blanc came away with a score of 90, the title of Best South African Sauvignon Blanc, a gold medal and a Best Buy rating. The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend also earned Best Buy ratings, as well as silver medals at the event, run by the Beverage Testing Institute.  The 2010 Shiraz also took silver.

Global marketing spokesperson Jackie Oliver said the brand was continuing to build volumes in a mix of established and newer markets. “It’s very encouraging to see how sales in Canada, our biggest market, are still powering ahead. Our Sauvignon blanc remains the number one selling imported varietal of its kind in Canada.  At the same time, we are building strong support for other offerings in the range, with the Pinot grigio proving immensely popular.”

Similarly, sales in South Africa and Finland, also major markets for the brand, were delivering excellent growth. “Maintaining such momentum from an already high base, is a good indication that we are successfully meeting the increasingly demanding quality and value standards set by our consumers.”

She said the brand was also establishing a firm foothold across the African continent and was expanding sales in the US, Brazil, Eastern Europe and parts of Asia.
