Springfontein Wine Estate in Walker Bay welcomes Tariro Masayiti as Viticulturist and Winemaker
Tariro Masayiti, formerly white wine master under Razvan Macici of Nederburg, and red wine expert at KWV, has been appointed as Springfontein’s viticulturist and winemaker, taking over from Christo Versfeld, who managed the estate for the past six years.

After creating a number of award-winning wines with his former employers, Tariro joined Springfontein in January (2013). “We welcome the considerable contribution in he brings to the estate in terms of experience and vision,” says CEO Jennifer Packard Weber.

Established 1995, surrounded by 400 hectares of fynbos close to the cool waters of Walker Bay, Springfontein’s 25 ha of vineyards are planted in limestone soils, irrigated by a natural spring

This unique terroir is reflected the estate’s hand-crafted wines, which were rated 4 stars in the 2013 edition of Platter’s SA Wines. The flagships - the unfiltered cool-climate single vineyard Chenin Blanc and Pinotage - can be found on the wine lists of many Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe.

Tasting and cellar tours Mon to Fri 10-4pm. Sat by appointment 10-2 pm
