Plaisir de Merle
Plaisir de Merle wine lovers in Gauteng will be able to experience a taste of this prestigious farm’s wines or stock up on their cellars while on a cultural and culinary excursion to MastersCard’s 2013 Winter Sculpture Fair.
This is taking place on the weekend of 4 - 5 May at the Nirox Sculpture Park, (near the Cradle of Humankind) just outside Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Plaisir de Merle, one of 19 participating wineries, will be presenting a formidable array of wines for tasting and sale, ranging from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Grand Brut MCC to the signature wine Grand Plaisir. Niel Bester who has been cellar master at Plaisir de Merle for over 20 years will be on hand to meet you and assist you in your choice of wine to stock up on.

Franschhoek’s top chefs and winemakers have teamed up for this event and this should be a fun time for all as visitors will be able to meander through the beautifully landscaped park to view the amazing collection of sculptures which have been on display at The Hague.

A variety of cheeses, charcuterie, wines, and chocolates from leading Franschhoek producers will be on sale at the country market, while exclusive whiskies, scarves, leather bags, books and other items are available at other retail outlets.

Sumptuous lunches prepared by chefs from some of the Franschhoek valley’s best restaurants can be enjoyed together with Franschhoek wines at picnic tables in the lush gardens.

Tickets cost R100 per person. The Winter Sculpture Fair will open from 11h00 to 17h00 on Saturday, 4 May, and from 10h00 to 17h00 on Sunday, 5 May. On-line bookings can be done through www.webtickets.co.za. GPS Co-ordinates S25 59 155 E27 46 981.
