Fondue Fridays add to melting moments at Eikendal

Eikendal Vineyards, a popular Winelands destination which takes pride of place at the foot of the Helderberg Mountain, extends a warm winter’s welcome with mouth-watering Fondue Fridays added to its myriad of family-friendly attractions to melt the cold away.

Over the last three decades the cheese fondue has always been an integral part of this  prominent Swiss owned winery – celebrated for its classic Bordeaux-style reds and acclaimed Chardonnay – and after a short absence it is now back by popular demand in a big way.
 
Every Friday evening until the end of August, enthusiasts can now ease into the weekend in the sizzling company of Eikendal, where Gruyère and Emmenthal meet superb estate wines, when the resident restaurant lifts the lid on their version of the traditional Swiss cheese fondue, served with an array of dipping delights for two. In addition, flavour maestro, Chef Mark Radnay, adds sweet satisfaction to this cosy, blues-busting-evening, with a royal chocolate tiramisu fondue festooned with fresh fruit, Spanish doughnuts and éclairs to start your weekend on a decadent high.
 
These exclusive Friday evenings are perfect if you want to spend quality yet relaxed time with your partner, family or friends in an unpretentious milieu and even if you are  not that fond of fondue you will not be left out in the cold. The Fondue Fridays’ bill of fare also offers hearty curries ranging from a traditional Bo-Kaap curry and a Cambodian peanut curry of grilled beef to a Vietnamese ‘Hang-lay’ pork curry. Other wholesome taste sensations include French onion soup; Thai lemongrass chicken and the restaurant’s signature sweet potato gnocchi enriched with parmesan foam and truffle oil.
 
From the exceptional to the exhilarating, Eikendal Vineyards, nestled midway between Stellenbosch and Somerset West, is an idyllic retreat where the entire family can have a good time.
