Avontuur
Last year as part of the Stellenbosch Wine Festival, Avontuur offered a small group of equine lovers the opportunity to experience what the Estate stands for; Fine Wine & Fast Horses

Due to popular demand, this year there are two dates allocated for this experience, which forms part of the annual winelands event which takes place from Friday, 24 January to Sunday, 2 February 2014.

On Wednesday, 29 January and Thursday, 30 January, the winery and thoroughbred stud farm is offering the opportunity for only 20 visitors per day to visit the stables for a “personal” meeting with the Estate’s two top-rated stallions VAR and Oratorio and an info session led by GM Pippa Mickleburgh, where visitors can ask questions to their heart’s content, after which a winery experience and light lunch will follow.

Guests will be asked to arrive at 11h00 (pre-bookings and payment essential!), ready for a 15 minute walk to the stables where Pippa and her team will be waiting. The stroll will take the group through the paddocks, which are usually closed to the public, and the scenery is a photographer’s dream, especially if you are a horse lover.

After a photo opportunity or two with the award-winning sires, and a Q & A session, guests will wander back to the winery for a Tease your Taste Buds experience which will be presented by the winery team. Then a light lunch will be served in the Estate Restaurant with a glass of wine per person.

Guests are advised to wear walking/comfy shoes, and be prepared for a warm day with a hat, sunscreen and water.

Bookings: The cost is R250 pp, and you can book your spot with the tasting room at winery@avontuurestate.co.za, or with Moerieda at info@avontuurestate.co.za or by contacting us at 021 855-3450. On-line tickets are available at www.stellenboschwinefestival.co.za under “Winery Experiences”.
