DStv, the satellite broadcasting giants, have thrown their might behind the wine industry through a strategic deal with TWS Media’s ‘The Wine Show’.
The partnership will see On Air promo’s being flighted across 23 leading DStv channels for 6 months of 2014, starting in March for the lead up to the flagship Jo’burg event, which takes place from 8 to 10 May at the Sandton Convention Centre. The promotions will then continue in support of both the Durban and Port Elizabeth shows in June and July respectively.

With DStv boasting 4,451,553 subscribers in South Africa, the deal recognises and cements TWS’s position as the organiser of SA’s largest and most significant consumer wine shows.

“This is remarkable news for the wine industry as a whole. It brings the single most influential broadcaster in Africa behind brand “wine” in a very significant way. It goes beyond advertising as DStv are key sponsors of features within the event, too, and much of the partnership is about bringing their viewers closer to wine and the wine lifestyle,” remarks John Woodward, Director at TWS Media.

“We are excited about our national partnership with The Wine Show and TWS Media. The synergy allows us to partake in a lifestyle extravaganza and to spoil our subscribers with competitions that offer top notch prizes and ‘money can’t buy’ experiences ,” says Majola Sibanda - Customer Retention Manager at DStv.

The Wine Show has always been about bringing new customers to the wine industry, whilst looking after established wine lovers through innovation and show content. To be able to do that now in such a visible fashion… 4.5 million people, on premium television… is an opportunity not to miss” adds Woodward.

With visiting experts such as Robert Joseph, trend-bucking growth in exhibitors and visitors over 9 years, superb venues, direct sales and the highest ‘per head’ visitor spend in the business, wine marketers have an easy choice of which shows to attend this year.

The DStv partnership is in addition to The Wine Show’s usual impactful annual marketing, advertising and PR.
