John Woodward, Show Director for The Wine Show, says “Marketing best practice and ‘visitor
experience’ are always at the heart of what we do. Visitors demand a holistic
experience. That means the food on offer is top of list for us as organisers.
If visitors are able to eat delicious food, they will buy more delicious wine
from our exhibitors”.
With the food experience identified as being of equal
importance as the wines on show, TWS approached senior management at TsogoSun,
who own the Sandton Convention Centre, and a plan was made to tailor-make the
food offering for The Wine Show.
As a result, visitors can look forward to the following
options for the first time ever at an SA
wine event:
German - Wiess wurst or foot-long
frankfurters with bayerisch sweet mustard, grain mustard, or German mustard.
South African Artisan Cheese - selection of three SA
cheeses to include Dalewood Huguenot and two others. Served with brown biscuits, three types of confit
& fig preserves, chocolate and walnut baguettes.
Italian - Vegetable ravioli and chicken
tortellini - Mediterranean Napolitano sauce and Parmigiano cheese
wheel with fine grated parmesan, pepper mills.
Asian - Sushi - Three types of sushi, wasabi
& soya sauce with chopsticks served in bamboo boats.
Portuguese - Chicken and beef prego Portuguese rolls served with a spicy chili
sauce, two types of tabasco and chopped
chili in olive oil.
“The portions sold will be snack sized to afford consumers to enjoy several options whilst at The Wine Show, and most excitingly the first ‘snack’ is included in your ticket price by way of a snack voucher” adds Woodward. Food will be served to guests via 5 different food service points throughout the show hall.
The Wine Show has been the driving force behind innovation
and improvement of consumer wine shows since 2006. The show was the first to
introduce direct-sales, and offers the highest ROI to exhibitors of any SA
shows consistently year after year.
“Better food will mean visitors stay longer and have a
better experience within the show. This will translate into better business for
exhibitors. In this day and age you have to do much more than throw a sandwich
deli into your floorplan. You have to have a plan, and understand consumer
behavior” said Woodward.
The Wine Show Jo’burg, Delivered by Dawn Wing, opens its
doors at the Sandton Convention Centre May 8th-10th
2014.
