Nederburg
The Red Table restaurant is putting on a man feast with a Father's Day gourmet braai on the lawns surrounding Nederburg's manor house, on Sunday, June 15.

The menu, at R220 a head, offers a heartwarming butternut soup, a selection of delectable salads, AAA-grade sirloin steak, Asian-glazed pork belly and the best traditional boerewors you can find. To round off the meal there is an array of typical South African desserts such as malva pudding, milk tart, peppermint crisp mousse and koeksisters.

That’s not all! Nederburg Ingenuity Red 2011, a supremely elegant and full-bodied blend of Sangiovese, Barbera and Nebbiolo, will be on offer at R280 per bottle. Purchase one and receive a complimentary cheese and wine pairing at the Nederburg Visitors’ Centre for two.

A wide selection of Nederburg wines is offered by the glass, and the entire range is available by the bottle.

For bookings, which are essential, and queries, please call 021 877 5155, or send an e-mail to theredtable@nederburg.co.za.

The Red Table, created in collaboration with well-known Cape Town foodie Andrea Foulkes, offers locally sourced fresh, light food in a comfortable, relaxed and gesellige atmosphere. Housed in the Cape-Dutch homestead of the first owner of Nederburg, it looks out on to generous gardens against the backdrop of vineyards and the towering Drakenstein Mountains. The building is a national monument.

The restaurant also offers an à la carte menu featuring food for everyone, with prices for first courses starting at R50, mains at R100 and desserts at R40. Kids are also catered for. Vegetarians and those with special dietary needs can be accommodated.
