The Cause
1000 sparkling faces, a function of King’s Church International, oversees the total approach to better the lives of children and their families, beginning in the rural wine growing areas area of Robertson, Bonnievale, Ashton and McGregor, Western Cape, South Africa.
The Outline
More than twenty
events per year are hosted to restore and build the self-worth of children and
their families through addressing their physical, spiritual and emotional
needs; so to affect a new generation who can rise above their circumstances.
1000 sparkling faces currently
involves more than 600 children per event on average, some events exceeding
1000 children. As with the 2012 contribution (R60 000.00) the current
contribution from the Cap Classique Association (another R20 000.00) funds are
directed towards the following three priorities:
- Warm water-resistant
fleece top with hoody for every child.
- Hire of buses to
transport children.
- Food for children at
events.
Addressing
physical needs
The following projects address basic
physical needs due to circumstances of poverty and associated challenges:
Food – As many children struggle from
malnutrition food is provided at every event that is organized.
Clothes – Winters are cold and due to
low immunity many children fall ill during winter months. Every child receives
a warm fleece top with hoody that is rain resistant and warm.
Transport – Most children come from
homes where there is no form of transport. Distances are vast and buses are
chartered to transport children to events.
Games, sweets and prizes –
Entertaining games create opportunities for team work, fun and a sense of
achievement.
Addressing
spiritual needs
Projects are coordinated by Kinderkerk
of King’s Church International to address the spiritual needs for personal significance,
purpose in life and identity, as well as building good self-esteem. This is
approached through
Love, motivation and recognition.
Singing, teaching, dancing, drama and
games.
Mentoring, pastoral care and counselling.
Restoring moral compass and family
structures.
