Breedekloof Wine Valley
Winter is here! Banish those winter blues by sipping, sampling and savouring some of the best food and wine the country has to offer at the annual Breedekloof Soetes & Soup 2014 Festival, taking place on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 July.

Feast yourself on delicious home-made comfort soups, winter inspired wines, and a weekend of family-friendly entertainment in one of The Cape's most breathtaking wine valleys.

Now in its 6th year, the Breedekloof Soetes & Soup Festival has become an eagerly anticipated weekend break for the whole family, and the perfect excuse to get out from under your duvet, out of the city, and stock up your wine cellar (or find an excuse to build one)! Inspiration enough? We certainly can't think of a better way make your winter warmer!

Wineries in the Rawsonville, Slanghoek, Goudini, and BreedeRiver areas will be showcasing their finest wines catering for all palates and pockets. Over the two days, food and wine lovers will be treated to a program featuring homemade country soup, complimented by multiple award-winning soetes (dessert wines), including Hanepoot, Muscadel, Noble Late Harvest, Red Jerepigo and Port.

A R70 festival pass, bought at the first visited wine farm, entitles you to complimentary homemade country soup-for-the-soul (‘fruit', ‘biltong and bluecheese', and ‘red wine and onion marmalade beef' soup to name a few), plus award-winning wine tastings at each of the valley's participating wineries. What's more, wineries are also offering various discounts on a variety of wines.

As in previous years, visitors will be spoilt for choice with a fantastic line-up of fun-filled activities. Enjoy: live music, market stalls, soup and wine pairings, a hiking trail, cupcake and wine pairing, and children's entertainment, including playground, sandpit, swings etc. Evening attractions include Opstal's five course food and wine pairing dinner with wine maker Attie Louw, Kirabo's "Attitude About Wine" Course and a "Wanna Be Italiano" pasta cooking class at PicardiPlace.
