Shortly after qualifying he left Stellenbosch, where he lived and was schooled, to travel the wine world extensively. First stop was Australia for a three-harvest stint then on to France and Germany.
The invaluable experience
gained will no doubt be put to the test in Creation’s unique terroir on the Hemel-en-Aarde
Ridge. But it is a challenge Michael cannot wait for. “I look forward to
working in the Hemel-en-Aarde and especially to becoming a member of the
Creation team,” says Michael.
Michael follows a proud
family tradition, becoming the third generation to enter the winemaking
profession – a calling indeed. He will surely feel at home at Creation, where
owners Jean-Claude and Carolyn Martin both hail from backgrounds steeped in the
winemaking tradition.
Michael succeeds Werner du
Plessis, Creation’s winemaker for the past two years. “We thank Werner for his
valuable contribution and wish him every success for the future,” says Carolyn.
