The Sauvignon Blanc Interest Group of South Africa (SBIG) invites producers of this noble grape variety to enter their finest wines for the 2014 FNB Sauvignon Blanc Top 10. Entries close on 3 September. Late entries will be accepted until 10 September.

The competition, now in its eighth year, promotes innovation excellence and gives recognition to those endeavouring to make wine of pure distinction. Earlier this year, First National Bank (FNB) extended their partnership with SBIG by renewing the sponsorship of the Sauvignon Blanc Top 10 competition for three more years. This collaboration is currently in its fourth year.

FNB Provincial Head of the Western Cape, Stephan Claassen, says FNB sees Sauvignon Blanc as having a significant market share and potential for growth. “When approached to be the sole sponsor of the Sauvignon Blanc Top 10, we saw it as a clear-cut decision to back a winner. The competition highlights the wine type amongst competitors, locally and overseas. Further it provides a platform for winemakers to stack up their wines against the best in the country promoting the pursuit of excellence and giving the winners recognition to the winemaker and the brand.”

Entries close on 3 September. Late entries will be accepted until 10 September at an increased fee. Contenders for the Top 10 title will be put through their paces at the Nederburg Tasting venue from 30 September- 02 October. The Top 10 winners will be announced on 22 October.

The competition catalogue and entry forms are available from SBIG. Contact Anka du Toit at tel (021) 863 1599 or via email to admin@sauvignonblanc.com
