Avontuur Wine Estate
It’s been a week of ongoing celebration at Avontuur Estate, the family-owned winery next to the R44 between Stellenbosch and Somerset West, with winemaker Jan van Rooyen wearing a permanent smile as awards season kicks in, with excellent results coming out for this boutique producer.
The Bordeaux-style premiere range Baccarat 2009 and the very popular limited-release Estate Cabernet Franc 2010 seem to be leading the pack with a Silver Outstanding for both wines from the International Wine and Spirits Competition, as well as a Trophy for the Cab/Franc from locally run Vitis Vinifera Awards. The Baccarat and Cabernet/Merlot 2013 collected Golds from this competition as well.

Baccarat then continued its good run with a Gold from the 2014 Michaelangelo Awards, and the still-to-be-released, Estate Pinot Noir/Chardonnay started its life with a Gold Award Medal already on the bottle.

It’s been a wonderful ride and we look forward to all our loyal Avontuur wine drinkers, enjoying these wines with us! Visit our new tasting room, which is open daily, to taste and buy the wines or get them on-line from our website at www.avontuurestate.co.za.
