KWV demonstrated the continual evolution of quality and style across its entire portfolio by winning two trophies and three double gold’s at the Michelangelo International Wine Awards, presented at the Lord Charles Hotel, Somerset West, on September 12th.
KWV Imoya Brandy and Wild Africa Cream Liqueur claimed the trophy spots. KWV The Mentors Cabernet Sauvignon, Imoya Brandy and Wild Africa Cream Liqueur each took home double gold’s.

In addition, 11 gold medals were awarded across the entire wine, brandy and liqueur range.

“The consistency of awards across the KWV portfolio points to the strength of our fruit sourcing and winemaking capabilities,” commented Johann Fourie, Chief Winemaker at KWV. “These awards affirm that KWV is moving in the right direction in terms of our constant evolution of wine style and quality.”

KWV brandy has built on its recent international success, winning the Best Worldwide Brandy award at IWSC 2014 and 2013, by demonstrating that its award winning capabilities extends to the Imoya range.

“In the true KWV tradition of Proud Pioneers, Imoya represents artful blending by Pieter de Bod, our Master Distiller, and his team.” commented Peadar Hegarty, KWV’s Head of Spirits Marketing. “We are delighted to be awarded Double Gold on Imoya and to win the Brandy Trophy. Relative to the rest of the KWV range of brandies Imoya is small in volume terms but is a multiple award-winning brand for which we see a bright future.”

Anneke Mackenzie, Global Brand Manager for RTD's and Liqueurs, commented on the wine for Africa Wild Cream, “We are thrilled to be awarded double Gold and the Liqueur Trophy for Wild Africa Cream at these prestigious awards. We were up against some international giants in winning and this is a true reflection of the dedication and passion that has gone into crafting this wonderful product. The award neatly prefaces the launch of our elegant new pack creating a platform for significant growth both locally and internationally for Wild Africa Cream.”

The Michelangelo International Wine Awards are in their 15th year, attract over 1,500 entries, making it the country’s second largest wine competition.

“The Michelangelo International Wine Awards offers entrants the opportunity to be adjudicated by international judges against a very significant quantity of competitors.
