The Restaurant at Grande Provence opened its doors 10 years ago in 2004
and has excelled as one of Franschhoek’s top fine dining establishments.
"When we received our first American Express Platinum Fine Dining
Award in 2011 we realised that the true challenge would be to maintain the
level of quality that afforded us the honour. Executive Chef Darren Badenhorst,
who joined our team in 2012 has managed to do just that and we are extremely
proud of his achievements," says Grande Provence General Manager and
Winemaker Karl Lambour.
Currently in its 17th year, the annual American Express Platinum Fine
Dining Awards pay tribute to restaurants throughout South Africa that offer
superb culinary experiences, push the envelope in terms of creativity and

Guided by the culinary mastery of Chef Darren, the team at The
Restaurant at Grande Provence draws inspiration from the time honoured
practices and precision of French cuisine and combines it with the bold
flavours of Asia to create a culinary experience second to none.
"As a fine dining restaurant we have to work hard to ensure a first
class culinary experience for every guest, every day. There is no better reward
than to be recognised for your efforts buy such a prestigious annual
competition. Without the support of the whole team we would not have achieved
this award for the past four years running," says Chef Darren who is very
much hands on, plating every dish perfectly, down to the last micro herb before
it exits the kitchen doors.
