Thandi Wines
Situated in the picturesque Stellenbosch wine route and established in 1995 in Elgin, Thandi Wines need no introduction. Thandi – a Xhosa word meaning ‘nurturing love’ – is a wine that niches on quality, spawned the Fairtrade trend and uplifts and empowers previously disadvantaged people.

It has always been Managing Director, Vernon Henn’s aim to establish Thandi as one of the biggest and strongest empowerment brands in the wine industry and after almost 10 years since becoming the world’s first Fairtrade accredited wine brand in 2003, the need for change has become clear.

It is with great excitement therefore that we reveal the new look labels for Thandi Wines! Our slogan, Love is in our nature, has become the inspiration for the new look and feel labels and is being depicted in the heart shaped vine leaves. Love has always been the central theme in the history of Thandi’s origin – out of love for the community, Thandi Wines was established, the name Thandi, means nurturing love – love is thus the golden thread that runs through our brand – creating these new labels with love as the central theme, was therefore obvious…Love is simply in our nature!

Consumers can look forward to the following wines:

Pioneer Range (Fairtrade)
Chardonnay Chenin Blanc
Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon
Sparkling Shiraz Rosé
Sparkling Rosé
Sparkling White

Premium Range (Fairtrade)

Reserve Range

One can purchase Thandi wines directly from the farm in Stellenbosch, through the Wine Club: wineclub@thandiwines.co.za, at Makro nationwide or online at wine.co.za.

Revered for its refined elegance, Thandi's secret to success is not the fact that good taste is a constant ingredient, but rather that the brand helps create wealth and uplifts previously disadvantaged people. Profits and Fairtrade premiums are ploughed back into various upliftment initiatives such as a crèche for farm worker’s children, tertiary education bursaries and basic adult education.
