Delheim Estate
Showing
remarkable consistency as one of the country’s finest dessert wines, the
Delheim Edelspatz 2013 follows in the golden footsteps of its predecessor, the
2012 vintage, which also earned the highest honour of five stars in the 2014
edition of the definitive Platter’s Guide.
Earlier
this year the Delheim Edelspatz scored a sweet hat-trick at the highly
contested Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show 2014 when the 2013 vintage swept the
estate’s third consecutive trophy for the Best Noble Late Harvest Dessert Wine.
The 2012 Edelspatz was on the podium last year and the 2011 vintage took the
trophy in 2012. This was the first time in the Show’s history that three
consecutive vintages of a wine from a single site have won a class trophy.
The
Delheim Edelspatz 2013 also triumphed with gold medals at the 2014 Decanter and
2014 International Wine & Spirit Competition.
Made
from Rhine Riesling grapes stemming from a single 27-year old vineyard on the
farm, the winning Delheim Edelspatz 2013 delivers a luscious concentration of
dried apricot, quince and cumquat. This estate jewel exudes wonderful fruit
purity, focused by botrytis and is an elegant and intense wine with thrilling
balance and length.
The Delheim Edelspatz 2013 is ready to drink now but will also benefit from further bottle maturation. The wine, which retails at R160 per bottle, is available directly from the farm or at selected wine outlets and boutique wine shops countrywide.
