The glamorous event,
which raised more than R7m last year, will be held over two days: 13 February
with a barrel tasting of inspirational wines at The Dylan Lewis Sculpture
Garden in Paradyskloof, Stellenbosch, followed by the auction on 14
February at Boschendal Estate. This initiative will provide bidders with the
opportunity to support education within underprivileged communities in the Cape
winelands. Various charities, including the Pebbles Project and Mad Charity
will benefit from the proceeds generated by a selection of rare auction items
across 34 lots.
As ambassador of
this worthy cause, the Tollman family, owners of Bouchard Finlayson and the Red
Carnation Hotel Collection, has donated an exciting auction lot that includes a
pyramid of varied format bottles of the famed 2007 Bouchard Finlayson Pinot
Noir signed by pinot pioneer Peter Finlayson and packaged in smart wooden
boxes. The coveted lot includes a 5L, 3L, 1.5L, 750ml Galpin Peak Pinot Noir;
750ml Téte de Cuvée Pinot Noir; and a bottle of the Cape Winemakers Guild Pinot
Noir, which received the highest price in the CWG 2009 Auction. The auction
item also includes a luxurious 5-star Red Carnation Hotel Collection holiday
for two, with a two night stay with breakfast at the magnificent Twelve
Apostles Hotel and Spa in Cape Town, and a dinner and movie experience in the
Azure restaurant plus a 'Tea by the Sea' High Tea, as well as two nights’
accommodation at The Oyster Box Hotel in Kwa-Zulu Natal on a bed and breakfast
basis. The auction lot furthermore includes a four night stay at Wilderness
Safari’s Rocktail Beach Camp, a World Heritage Site in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
