We are delighted to report on some milestones at wine.co.za

10 000 Twitter followers AND 10 000+ Google+ followers achieved - both on the same day!  Quite an achievement - well done to our active team at wine.co.za and a big thank you to all the followers who share us!

What is almost more interesting about these figures is that the number of Twitter followers doubled in the last year... and Google+ came from 0 - 10 000 in less than a year.

I know we can all sprout good statistics but it really feels that we are making an impact.  Our YouTube channel is sitting at over 27 500 views... we have loaded hundreds of videos over the last few years and we are working on a few projects this year which will see our video content extend into hospitality and training. With wine waiters and sommeliers becoming more and more important as the gatekeepers for wine - backed up by Jancis Robinson's comments last week at VinPro & Rootstock - we have been working on a set of videos which new wine service professionals can use to find out more about wine and make it less intimidating.

The consistent growth of Mobi devices to view websites shows no bounds with the 2014 stats showing this figure at nearly a quarter of our visitors. Tablets are at 9% and the rest  of course are still from the good old desktop computer.

Our Sales from our Online Shop have shown really good growth - with our best ever November, December and January sales so far! With the average bottle price sitting at R100 (grown from a year ago), we are pleased with this progress and looking forward to even bigger growth in 2015. We have plans in place to work on partnerships with a number of organisations where we really feel we can make an impact with the sale of our wines. As they say - it is not about counting the number of people you reach, but reaching the people who count!

Our Tourism offering currently includes 174 places to Eat, 219 accommodation establishments, 296 things to Do and 232 Tasting Rooms..

There is certainly a variety of offerings available to the consumer and with Wine Tourism being firmly on the agenda for the new VinPro Strategic Framework - we are well placed to ensure that our winery clients' information is easily accessible to the wine tourism consumer.

We will be releasing our TOP 5 Eat, Sleep, Do & Taste pages soon for 2014, so keep an eye on our News..

Wishing everyone the very best for the remaining 11 months of 2015 - can you believe that we have already flattened a month!
