Take the Swiss concept of the fondue, a Robertson wine estate which loves a braai plus a selection of quality meat from Namibia and you have the Rietvallei Fondue Braai which will be part of the wine farms offerings for this year’s Wacky Wine Week-end from 4 to 7 June.
With the traditional vessel used for cheese or meat fondues deemed as just a bit restrictive for full-on meaty fun, Kobus Burger, Rietvallei proprietor and keen braaier, looked to bigger, better instruments.

Braai kettles offer the perfect solution. “Each kettle will be placed on a round table, filled with coals at the correct temperature for braaiing,” explains Kobus. “Guests will buy a selection of top-grade meat from Namibia, including the best steaks imaginable, and then they can braai it to perfection. Not only is this great fun, but as every braaier knows, no-one can cook a piece of meat better than he or she themselves, so everyone is assured the best possible braai experience.”

Golfing aficionados will once again be put to the test as they attempt to hit the target placed in the vineyard, and true aimers stand a chance of winning stunning prizes.
Wine-tastings continue throughout the week-end, offering visitors the chance to get a deeper understanding of Rietvallei’s offerings, as well as to select the best wine for their fondue braai!

Just one of the many attractions that will make for another successful Wacky Wine Week-end.
