The
first POT Festival of 2015 kicks off in Johannesburg at Val Bonne Country
Estate in Modderfontein on August 29th, to be followed by the
Durban festival at The Litchi Orchard in Salt Rock on September 19th.
The grand finale, as always, will be held at Diemersfontein Estate in
Wellington, just 70km from Cape Town. This year’s Cape Town event will take
place on October 10th, which is also fittingly known as International
Pinotage Day.
International
band, CrashCarBurn,
will be the headlining act at all three events, and fest goers will also get to
experience top live performances from local artists including Howie Combrink
(Joburg), Majozi
(Durban) and Grassy
Spark (Cape Town).
Since
Diemersfontein’s initial modest celebration held 11 years ago in honour of
their first vintage of this delectably tipple at the estate outside Wellington,
the proudly South African cultivar, with unique, tantalising flavours of ‘The
Original Coffee-Chocolate Pinotage’, has taken the world by storm. Dedicated to
the consumption of a single (and singular) wine, the legendary Pinotage-on-Tap
celebrations have since evolved into full-blown festivals, hosted annually in
Johannesburg, Durban, and the lovely Boland town that lies in the heart of the
Cape Winelands.
Attendees
will be treated to a generous goodie-bag on arrival, followed by a sumptuous
lunch, featuring a lavish array of palate-pleasing, Pinotage-paired bowl foods
(including dessert), complemented by great live music from a line-up of top
local acts throughout the day. Not to be forgotten is the ‘bottomless’
abundance of the multi-award-winning, ORIGINAL Coffee-Chocolate Pinotage tapped
straight from the barrels. It’s an unrivalled, unforgettable, unmissable experience
that’s all included in the ticket price.
Keep
a lookout for regular POT Festival updates over the next few months as we build
the anticipation of this year’s events via the Diemersfontein website
and Twitter
page, as well as the Pinotage
on Tap Facebook page.
