Haute Cabrière Wine Estate & Restaurant, on the upper reaches of the Franschhoek Pass looking out west down the valley, is a great destination for a number of reasons.
If you love mountains Haute Cabrière offers Alpine views, especially in the early morning with the sun behind you looking down the valley. Winter or summer, the views are spectacular. The roses are pretty stunning too.

If you like wine - the riches are embarrassing. I talk to many wine lovers. They all love the wines of this estate. Different wines in almost every case. I think that is the mark of good wine making when you are able to be all things to all people.

If you like good service, you get it in the tasting room. Warm knowledgeable friendly people who will guide you through the wines. There is also an outside area where you get a taste with a view.

If you like good food. Ryan Shell, the chef at the Haute Cabrière Restaurant, will offer you the perfect marriage with the estate’s wines. He doesn’t leave vegetarians in the lurch either and offers a vegetarian tasting menu.

The philosophy as stated on their website of the restaurant is “Haute Cabrière’s menu revolves around seasonal availability of produce, which is mostly sourced locally or even grown organically on the farm. A selection of full and half portions, as well as a variety of smaller bites from the bistro menu encourages guests to relax and sample a variety of enticing pairings. The flavours and textures on the plate are specifically designed to complement the range of Haute Cabrière wines and Pierre Jourdan Cap Classiques - all of them served by the glass and by the bottle. Bringing all of these elements together, Haute Cabrière offers the complete marriage of food and wine.”
