A mere two weeks after Overhex Wines International launched their exciting new Survivor wine range, the 2014 Survivor Pinotage has been nominated as one of the 20 finalists in the 2015 Absa Top 10 Pinotage competition.

The aim of this prestigious annual competition is to identify ten Pinotage wines which will serve as benchmark for the development of distinctive South African Pinotage and illustrate the uniqueness of Pinotage in the international wine world. The winners of this year’s competition will be announced on 28 August.

The charming story behind the Survivor wine range is that of an Nguni cow who accidently found her way to a Swartland farm by jumping truck as she passed by. Not only did she survive, she has thrived and even produced several offspring. The premium range pays tribute to this remarkable lady with two red and two white wines from the Swartland.

Made by Overhex winemaker Willie Malan, the full-bodied barrel matured 2014 Survivor Pinotage shows hearty fruit flavours including prune, plum and cherry with delightful notes of spice and cedar. “We are proud indeed that our Survivor Pinotage made it to the Absa Top 10 shortlist and look forward to the announcement of the winners on the 28th,” says Willie.
