Kleine Zalze
Kleine Zalze released their first Méthode Cap Classique (MCC) in March 2014, the Vintage Brut.

With its Old World elegant style, it made an immediate impression among ardent MCC lovers and relaxed bubbly drinkers alike. The Vintage Brut is now joined by a yin and yang (‘harmony and balance’) MCC Non-Vintage duo – the Brut and Brut Rosé – revealing layers of fruit flavour and modern yet classic packaging. These two make a striking addition to the Kleine Zalze MCC range.

The Non-vintage MCC Brut effervesces with aromas of strawberry, complemented by classic biscuit bouquet richness. A lively fine mousse illuminates this wine leaving one with an unforgettable sparkling sensation. The Non-vintage MCC Brut Rosé delights the palate as much as the eyes with a delicate pink hue, a lively cascading sparkle, and aromas of cherries and red berries.

Cellar Master Alastair Rimmer comments; ‘As part of the flagship wine range, these are exceptional, handcrafted MCC wines produced from specially selected premium vineyard parcels of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir at Kleine Zalze. They are fresh and vibrant, aptly complex yet elegantly simple and perfectly delicious.’

This Kleine Zalze Méthode Cap Classique trio has recently sparkled their way to the top of the charts both locally and internationally. The non-vintage Brut Rosé won a Gold Medal at the 2015 Amorim Cork Cap Classique Challenge. The Vintage Brut 2010 received a Gold Medal at the 2015 International Wine Challenge. The Vintage Brut 2009 claimed the prestigious MCC Trophy and Double Gold at the 2014 Michelangelo International Wine & Spirit Awards, and another Gold medal at the 2015 International Wine & Spirit Competition.

Kleine Zalze wines feature among top performers in wine shows both locally and abroad every year. The estate was nominated for producing the overall Best White Wine at Concours Mondial this year, only the second time that a wine from South Africa has achieved a top place at this distinguished competition. In more recent news, the 2015 Mundus Vini International Summer Tasting has just rated the Kleine Zalze Cellar Selection Bush Vines Chenin Blanc 2015 as Best of Show – South Africa White.

Kleine Zalze Managing Director, Kobus Basson, observes their place and positioning; ‘we celebrate the MCC wines as part of the Kleine Zalze fold – they uphold our philosophy of over-delivering on quality across a variety of price offerings. A core part of this is being able to satisfy what the market is seeking, and remain consistent in everything we do through a quality focus. It is Kleine Zalze’s way of reflecting on the success we have enjoyed in the past and a celebration of the opportunities that lie ahead.’

The Kleine Zalze MCCs are available from the estate cellar near Stellenbosch and at selected retail stores and certain specialist wine outlets. The Vintage Brut sells for roughly R140/bottle while the Non-Vintage Brut and Brut Rosé go for around R90 each.
