Avontuur Estate
We’re sharing some special #AvontuurMoments with you this month as we kick off our summer wine campaign instores across the Western Cape as well as at the farm. At the same time, there is no respite on the stud side of the business as Var and Oratorio both boast a full book, and the foals just keep on coming with 22 having made their way into the world by now.

Fillies definitely rule with a spectacular Var filly out of Gr 1 winner Bambina Stripes and an Oratorio colt out of Jeter also looking really good! For regular updates, visit the Stud Page on our website.

WINERY NEWS

PREMIERE RANGE WINES BRING IN THE BLING!
September has been a good month for Avontuur Estate winemaker Jan van Rooyen and his team with medals awarded for the Avontuur Luna de Miel Chardonnay 2014 and the Avontuur Baccarat 2011 (a Bordeaux-style red blend). The Baccarat received a double gold medal at Vitis Vinifera 2015 and a silver at the Michaelangelo wine awards with a gold for Luna de Miel, courtesy of Vitis Vinifera.

NEW WINES RELEASED FOR SUMMER
Fans are already enjoying the 2015 Estate Sauvignon Blanc and the 2015 Pinot Noir/Chardonnay. Both wines are full and rich, with the early harvest this year, clearly having no adverse affects. Cabernet Franc lovers will be happy to know that the 2011 vintage is soon to be released as well, so pop in soon to grab the last few cases of the highly rated 2010 before it’s all sold out.

STUD NEWS

ORATORIO CELEBRATES GR 1 WIN IN AUSTRALIA
Eight year old son of Oratorio, Mourinho showed style, strength and class on Saturday when he won the Gr 1 Underwood Stakes at Caulfield in Australia. Avontuur GM Pippa Mickleburgh was understandably over the moon and with the first of Oratorio’s crop getting ready for the Book 1 CPYS in January at the CTICC in Cape Town, this bodes well for buyers’ interest in Avontuur’s super sire. Keep an eye on the Sales page on our website for details about the yearlings.
