Lomond
The vineyards are farmed according to
eco-principals and organic interventions to enrich the soil and control disease
and pests. Lomond is particularly known for seeking out specific vineyard
blocks to showcase the diverse richness of its southerly position and 18
different soil types.
With hints of Spring beckoning around
every corner, it is a perfect wine to start dusting off the imminent cabin
fever we’re all starting to experience after a long winter.
The cooler Agulhas climate allows for
slower ripening that results in the wine showing delicate flavours of tropical
fruit with a hint of citrus and fynbos. Unlike Lomond's iconic single vineyard Pincushion and Sugarbush Sauvignon
Blanc, which is produced in a style that lends itself to ageing, the Estate
Sauvignon Blanc is made to be enjoyed by those who care to enjoy a younger
style of wine. This wine can be enjoyed with a butternut,
goats cheese and prawn salad or on its own while enjoying some much-needed
sunshine.
Nestled in the valley of the
Uilenkraal River in the Gansbaai area, Lomond is one of only a few wine farms
in the Cape Agulhas region. The vineyards of this unique wine estate form part
of a beautifully balanced ecology in which all the natural elements – from
the rich soil beneath the vineyards to the fragrant fynbos that surrounds them – shape
and sustain one another, while remaining perfectly attuned to the greater
forces that give them life.
The wine is available from specialist
boutique outlets, as well as the Cape Legends online Vinoteque (www.vinoteque.co.za). RSP - R70.00
