2015 MICHELANGELO INTERNATIONAL WINE AWARDS

ROBERTSON WINERY FLAGSHIP CONSTITUTION ROAD RANGE

Robertson Winery Constitution Road Shiraz Limited Release – Michelangelo Gold Medals for the 2011 and 2012 vintages

Robertson Winery’s esteemed Constitution Road Shiraz received Gold at Michelangelo for both the 2011 and 2012 vintages, following exceptional performances by previous vintages at this competition, the Shiraz SA Wine Challenge and Syrah du Monde; regular 4½ and 4 star Platter’s ratings as well as a Decanter World Wine Awards Trophy.

The Constitution Road Shiraz is an opulent wine made from the best barrels sourced from Robertson Winery's top shiraz vineyard blocks. Radiant deep purple in colour, alluring aromas of ripe plum and blackberries envelop warm spice and a hint of dark chocolate. Voluptuous with plush fruit and velvety tannins, two to three years in new French and American oak adds breadth, depth and length.

Taking its name from the winery’s prominent address at No 1 Constitution Road in Robertson, the Constitution Road Shiraz was launched in 2004 to commemorate a decade of democracy in South Africa under the new constitution.

The Constitution Road Shiraz retails for approximately R170 and is available at select retail outlets nationwide.

ROBERTSON WINERY VINEYARD SELECTION RANGE

Robertson Winery Kings River Chardonnay 2013 Limited Release – Michelangelo Double Gold

The Robertson Winery Kings River Chardonnay, honoured with a prestigious Michelangelo Double Gold for the 2013 vintage, is no stranger to acclaim, with

previous vintages having received numerous Double Gold and Gold medals at the Michelangelo and Veritas Awards as well as regular 4 star Platter’s ratings.

The fruit for this wine is sourced from the premium Kings River Chardonnay block where the well-weathered deep Karoo soil, with its generous lime content, adds an underlying richness and complexity to the wine. 100% barrel fermented and matured for 12 months in new and 2nd fill French oak; this wine displays a lovely butterscotch and marmalade complexity with generous texture and a long full-flavoured finish.

The Robertson Winery Kings River Chardonnay retails nationally for R90.

Robertson Winery Prospect Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 Limited Release – Michelangelo Gold

The Robertson Winery Prospect Hill Cabernet Sauvignon, a regular recipient of Gold at the Michelangelo Awards and of 4 stars in Platter’s wine guide, was once again honoured with a Michelangelo Gold for the 2013 vintage.

The Prospect Hill vineyard, on a cool southeast-facing slope with deep, well-drained red Karoo soils with a generous lime content, consistently produces exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. This elegant wine is deep purple in colour with intense dark fruit aromas of cherry, blackcurrant and plum with nuances of cedar wood and dark chocolate. The palate is layered, complex, mouth-filling and enduring, with cassis succulence and silky integrated tannins.

Matured for 23 months in French oak, 30% new, the Prospect Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 retails nationally for R100.

Robertson Winery Phanto Ridge Pinotage 2012 Limited Release – Michelangelo Gold

The Robertson Winery Phanto Ridge Pinotage, a recipient of numerous Michelangelo Gold and Double Gold medals, was once again the proud recipient of a Michelangelo Gold for the 2012 vintage.

Produced from the acclaimed Phanto Ridge vineyard in the foothills of the Langeberg with its lime-rich shale soils, the Phanto Ridge Pinotage 2012 is a complex multi-layered wine displaying gorgeous plum and ripe banana notes woven together with hints of dark chocolate, mocha, exotic spices and vanilla. It is juicy and plushly-textured with ripe tannins and well-integrated oak, and leaves one with a lingering impression of chocolate and plum pudding.

Matured for 18 months in new 225-litre barrels (80% French and 20% American oak), the Robertson Winery Phanto Ridge Pinotage 2012 retails nationally for R100.
