Described as ‘a rockstar party for an incredible cause’, CWA is a global showcase of South Africa’s finest wines and the country’s most prestigious wine brands. Held over two days, the event commences with the American Express Barrel Tasting and Auction of inspirational wines at Constantia Glen on Friday 12 February, followed by the main auction on Saturday 13 February at Klein Constantia.
The stylish event, which to date has raised in excess of R17 million, offers the chance to bid for truly unique items and experiences in aid of the Cape Wine Auction Trust. The initiative provides bidders with the opportunity to support education within underprivileged communities in the Cape Winelands and across the Western Cape. A total of 18 charities, including the Pebbles Project, MAD Charity, The Lunchbox Fund and The Click Foundation, will benefit from the proceeds generated by a selection of rare auction items across 40 lots.
As ambassador of this worthy cause, the Tollman family, owners of Bouchard Finlayson and the Red Carnation Hotel Collection, has donated a special auction lot that includes 12 rare Magnums of award-winning vintages, all signed by South Africa’s ‘Pinot Pioneer’ Peter Finlayson - six older vintages of Galpin Peak Pinot Noir from 2003 to 2008, and six vintages of Bouchard Finlayson’s unique Italian/French red blend, Hannibal, from 2007 to 2009 and 2011 to 2013. In addition, the winning bidder will enjoy a three-night stay plus breakfast for two at the luxurious Red Carnation Hotels member The Montague on the Gardens in London, or at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa in Cape Town.
Bouchard Finlayson will further participate in the Hemel-en-Aarde Pinot Noir Experience auction lot, which amongst a plethora of treats includes a braai hosted by Peter Finlayson for 12 people at the Bouchard Finlayson Manor House, plus a case of Bouchard Finlayson Galpin Peak Pinot Noir Magnums from 2006, 2007 and 2008.
