Avontuur Estate
The grape harvest is in full swing with the last of the Cabernets and the Petit Verdot to still come into the cellar before the end of this year’s intake. The cellar is full of fermentation aroma’s and the bins are bubbling with deep red grape juice.

We’ve been tasting some of the brand-new freshly fermented Sauvignon Blanc and winemaker Jan van Rooyen is having fun finalising the final taste profile of the 2015 Luna de Miel, as it’s”business as usual” for the normal work like blending, bottling and labelling.

EASTER IN THE TASTING ROOM
We’re kicking off this month with a new chocolate and wine pairing in the tasting room. This replaces the popular nougat and biltong pairings which will be revamped for Summer season. The cost is R60 per person and bookings are not needed, although if you’re planning to arrive in a large group, it’s more efficient to phone ahead.

Our specials for March range from white wines for the last of summer, to our Magnums (R120 per bottle instead of the usual R150) which is just the perfect size for those big family get togethers over the holiday period. Grab a 3-pack of the 2015 Estate Sauvignon Blanc for only R150, instead of R195.

Easter weekend is always a great time to visit Avontuur as the weather is usually cooler, but still crisp and sunny and there’s few things more spectacular than sitting outside on the terrace overlooking the paddocks, with a glass or two of our finest. The Tasting Room will be presenting some specially made choc cupcakes for the occasion, which will be paired with a glass of rich, red Above Royalty Liqueur Wine for only R20 per pairing. Just remember that we are closed on Good Friday, 25 March, but we’re open on all the other public holidays during the month.

LIVE MUSIC TO END AFTER 1 APRIL
Our last summer season live music evening is on Friday 1 April with local favourite James Saunders who will be performing on the terrace in front of the winery. Entry is free but tables have to be booked at winery@avontuurestate.co.za . Read more on our website...
