Môreson and Franschhoek Cellar were each awarded Gold Medals at this year’s Chardonnay du Monde International Competition. The internationally recognised competition recognises the world’s best Chardonnay wines by awarding them with reliable and representative medals.

The 23rd annual competition took place from 8 to 11 March 2016 at Château des Ravatys, the wine estate of the Pasteur Institute at Saint Lager in Burgundy, France. Chardonnay wines are selected on the basis of their intrinsic quality. The objective of the competition is to support quality measures undertaken by Chardonnay producers throughout the world, and in doing so showcase the diversity and richness of Chardonnays currently being produced.

Môreson received their Gold Medal for the Mercator Premium Chardonnay 2013, whilst Franschhoek Cellar was awarded theirs for the Our Town Hall Unoaked Chardonnay 2015. Boschendal received a Silver Medal for their 1685 Chardonnay 2015.

These latest recognitions reaffirm the Franschhoek Wine Valley’s commitment to producing wines of premium quality.
