To top off the Gold medals, the South African Red Trophy was awarded to Saronsberg Full Circle 2014. As recipient of this trophy for the second consecutive year, it highlights Saronsberg’s focus on quality and consistency. The South African Viognier Trophy was awarded to Saronsberg Viognier 2014, a well-deserved accolade for this industry-leading wine.
The IWC 2016 results were announced on 11 May following two weeks of intensive blind tasting in London during April. Overall the panel of international wine experts awarded South African wines with a total of 21 Gold medals, 98 Silver and 169 Bronze medals, bringing the total medal tally to 288.
