Known for its rustic and charming country life, the Robertson region is home to some of the best wines in the country and makes for a relaxing, slow-paced getaway for city folk.

As the town gears down for the annual SLOW Food and Wine Festivalfrom 5 to 7 August – the popular grape celebration that’s dedicated to taking things slow – we give you a foodie’s guide to the exciting activities taking place at this year’s eventful weekend.

Gourmet dinner with De Wetshof
De Wetshof is pulling out all the stops with a five-course elegant feast prepared by award-winning Swiss-trained chef Bernhard Hess and paired with wines specially selected from the De Wetshof Estate. Rare and mature De Wetshof chardonnays, which are not readily available on the market, will also be served with the dinner. The cost is R650 per person.

Bubbly and food pairing with Graham Beck
Lovers of MCC and food will relish this fun day hosted by the popular bubbly brand. You’re invited to indulge in an exclusive masterclass in wine tasting, a drive around the private nature reserve (glass of bubbles in hand), and a sumptuous feast to end it off. Cost is R650 per person.

Slow dinner in an underground cellar with Weltevrede
Enjoy an evening with the Jonker family and relax with good food and wine in the 100-year-old underground cellar. Dishes will include cauliflower soup, oxtail en croute and crumbled carrot cake. The dinner costs R290 per person.
