In conjunction with Laurium Capital, an independently owned asset manager, Winemag.co.za is pleased to present the inaugural Signature Red Blend Report featuring wines distinctive of their South African producers.

Blending involves the combination of grape varieties with different but complementary characteristics to achieve greater complexity. The category of wines made according to the Bordeaux template is well established in South Africa however there is a multitude of other red blends (some of them ultra-premium concept wines) and this report is intended to put these under scrutiny.

63 entries were received from 46 producers for this year’s competition. 16 wines were rated 90 or higher on the 100-point quality scale and these were recognised during an event held at Ellerman House in Bantry Bay on Wednesday, 27 July.
