Allee Bleue Estate
Allée Bleue Estate is situated at the cross roads of the Groot Drakenstein Valley and the main road into Franschhoek, and lies at the end of a blue gum avenue, its vineyards and orchards radiating out from its historic manor buildings. The estate is owned by the Dauphin family and they remain committed to growing the Allée Bleue brand locally and internationally.

The portfolio of wines on offer at Allée Bleue has become widely known as one with something for everyone, from its upper echelon Premium wines to the easy drinking Starlette range.

Winemaker Van Zyl Du Toit notes that the Allée Bleue’s Starlette Shiraz Rosé 2016 has a lovely cherry blossom colour. It’s fruit-driven style provides an abundance of sweet strawberry and rose petal aromas with a hint of spiciness that is derived from the Shiraz grapes. Overall a well balanced and cheerful Rosé that can be enjoyed on its own or paired with salami topped bruschetta and lamb skewered onto rosemary stalks and grilled over a smokey fire. Evenhandedly priced at R48.00 a bottle.

The Allée Bleue Sauvignon Blanc 2016 originates from the Walker Bay area and has a star light hue with shades of green. Sweet tropical fruit invites you on the nose, followed by intense passion fruit aromas well supported by hints of green pepper and typical herbaceousness. The palate is fresh and lively with loads of summer flavours and a clean, crisp finish. Van Zyl notes that this spring wine pairs well with a light vegetarian pasta with fresh Allée Bleue herbs or scallops in a fresh citrus jus topped with marinated orange peel. Well priced at R65.00.
