Our aim with the Walk is to have fun, whilst experiencing the special charm and character that is tangible on this beautiful, historic working wine farm. With just over 2 km to the Top of the Hill vineyard and back, it is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a relaxing Saturday in the unspoilt, picturesque Stellenbosch Kloof valley.
We meet at 09h45 at the Tasting Venue and our walk starts at 10h00 to the shade of the magnificent old Wild Fig Tree.
This tree, planted by Pieter's father, is a landmark on the farm and based next to the 66 year old Top of the Hill vineyard block, the oldest existing Pinotage vineyard in South Africa. Here we will take a short break, and taste our flagship wine, the Top of the Hill Pinotage, whilst enjoying the stunning view towards Stellenbosch.
The Top of the Hill Walk includes a tasting through the wines, a hand-picked selection of lovely local cheeses and preserves, as well as a glass of De Waal wine, all for R195.00 per person.
