Robertson Wine Valley
The prestige SA Young Wine Show, dating back to 1833, showcases the best wines of a current vintage. 260 wines were entered from the Robertson Wine Valley for the regional Young Wine Show.

The winners were announced on the evening of 16 August at an elegant awards ceremony held at Arendsig Handcrafted Wines. 17 local wine producers from the valley entered and received amazing results with 13 gold, 52 silver and 126 bronze. With 53 class winners.

On this night a special award, the Pon van Zyl trophee, gets awarded to a specific person that has significantly added value to the wine industry. The previous winners get together to nominate and vote for a new recipient.  In its 30th year the award went to Tim Rands from Vinimark for his contribution through the years to the wine industry in the Robertson area.

On 20 August, the national SA Young Wine Awards was held. With 1 868 wines entered, 17 won SA Champion trophies, 51 achieved class winner status and 64 were awarded gold medals.

The stars of the 2016 vintage were announced during a glittering gala evening, hosted by Agri-Expo with the support of Sanlam and Santam, at the CTICC.
