Avontuur Estate
We think September is the best time of the year at Avontuur Estate with warmer weather on the way and the cutest foals making their appearance. This year’s exclusive “Mares and Foals Walks” took place last month and visitors had the chance to interact with the mares and their babies under the eagle eye of owner Philip Taberer who lead the groups. For an update on our foals, visit our website.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A JOCKEY
We spent a great day with the three Avontuur-sponsored local jockeys, Grey Cheyne, MJ Byleveld and Callan Murray when they visited the farm early in August. We had time to ask them all kinds of weird and wonderful questions about the life of a jockey. To read more visit our website.

NEW RELEASES
The 2016 Sauvignon Blanc and a full bodied, brand-new Cabernet Sauvignon is now available in the tasting room and is selling like hotcakes.

GOLD AWARD FOR CAB/MERLOT
The Cabernet/Merlot 2013 blend sports a stunning gold medal, once again proving that this wine overdelivers on the price.

WINE CERTIFICATE FOR TASTING ROOM MANAGER
Ella Grimston, our tasting room manager is making us proud with her recently achieved WSET Level 3 Certified advanced Certificate in Wine and Spirits. It’s a pleasure to have such a knowledgeable person available to assist the public when visiting the farm.

IT’S “BRAAI MONTH” IN THE TASTING ROOM
We’re excited to offer visitors our exclusive Avontuur-branded Braai Box this month for R500 each from the tasting room. (Includes: 2 x Bottles of Cabernet/Merlot 2013, an Avontuur apron, Avontuur branded braai tongs, Funky Ouma Shiraz-flavoured braai spice and 2 packets of biltong.)
On Heritage Day, Saturday 24 September visitors can order a special platter for R140 each containing liver and snoek paté, cold meats, artisanal cheeses, preserves and biscuits. Sit inside, or outside on the terrace and enjoy with a glass of wine or two.
