La Motte
Surrounded by one of the most charming and picturesque landscapes in South Africa, La Motte wine estate situated in Franschhoek is most definitely a feast for the senses. Their devotion to excellence in an ever changing wine industry remains constant and is the backbone on which this estate operates.

Elsenburg trained, Cellar Master, Edmund Terreblanche, is at the helm of the winemaking for La Motte. He joined the La Motte team in December 2000, as their assistant winemaker and quickly proved himself to be capable much more; within three years, he was promoted to Cellar Master, where he maintains an ever strict, yet spirited approach to wine production.

La Motte produces a number of different varietals and styles within their four main collections. When asked about the decision to spend 16 years with the same company, Edmund replied that working at La Motte affords him the opportunity to explore and hone his skills as a winemaker with different cultivars and styles of wine;as well as with grapes coming from different regions and terroirs. Through this, he is able to combine a playful aspect to his winemaking style and awards him the opportunity to cultivate the various wine collections produced by La Motte.

The La Motte estate is owned by Hanneli Rupert, the daughter of Anton Rupert who purchased the estate in 1970, and her husband Hein Koegelenberg is managing director. The estate itself is a culmination of all the finer things in life. Flair, absorbent ambiance and an undeniable promise to quality are the three pillars on which this estate firmly rests.

Much more than a wine tasting can be experienced at La Motte. The estate boasts an impressive gallery, restaurant and authentic craft shop on their premises. The culture of wine drinking has evolved over the past years and La Motte has undeniably grown with the times. The estate offers theconsumer an experience into a world of luxury, consistent quality and people who are exceptionally well-trained to guide you through the many layers of joy that La Motte has to offer.

The La Motte Méthode Cap Classique, which is only to purchase from the estate itself or through their online shop, via the La Motte website, is a MCC full of dimension and texture. The yeasty flavoursare well integrated and accompanied by white pear and a long lingering finish, of collapsing bubbles on the palate. The MCC is predominantly Chardonnay driven, with varying percentages of Pinot Noir, depending on the vintage quality of either grape.

La Motte strives to not only be a wine producing estate that is quality driven, but also a wine estate that is brand focussed; a team that lives their brand and intertwines their commitment to excellence through all of their ventures on and off the estate.
